Beach Shack Chalet is a backpacker lodge north of Juara Village at Mentawak Bay, specialising in surfing activities, lessons and facilities. The hotel comprises two wings - a collection of A-frame wooden chalets and huts spread across a dense garden area peppered with logs, driftwood and decorative items composed of old buoys, kayaks, ropes and boat frames.
The newer wing is composed of double-storey beachfront wooden villas nearby perched along the beach. Both feature a casual, hippie-style environment staffed by family and friends. Besides operating Tioman Surf Center, the hotel also manages a cafe and bar while providing free wifi Internet access for its guests.
